How was it made ?
As we had the opportunity to experiment with 3C on this project, I wanted to work individually again and show my vision and how I go about designing. I really wanted a flexible character that could open up gameplay possibilities.
I first designed a lot of ideas on paper, and once I found what I wanted I immediately tried to implement it in Unreal Engine to see if it would work., learning the engine in the process.
The design documents and playtesting I did re-affirmed what I thought was right, but also pointed out what could be improved, and I kept learning during production.
How did it go?
- I managed to design 3C and a sandbox level that open up a lot of possibilities.
- I truly learned Unreal Engine through this project.
- I challenged myself and took time to make something unique, yet I implemented what I wanted in the time I had and cut elements when necessary.
- I couldn't find a proper use for the trail left by the character with the time I had left.
